60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesAt over 90-metres high (295 feet), the magnificent white gums in the Evercreech Forest Reserve are very special. These majestic trees are the tallest of their type in Australia and if you are touring Tasmania, they are well worth a visit. Do remember to take your camera to capture the moment you hugged a very, very big tree.

There is a short 400m return walk into the forest of giants (10-mins), or a 1km circuit walk (20-mins) that takes you through the headwaters of the South Esk River. The family friendly reserve is a popular picnic spot, however, do watch the children near water.

The walk is graded Level 2, suitable for most people and most levels of fitness. In normal conditions, the track to the viewing platform is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.

Sun protection and clothing suited to the weather are recommended. Walking in this area during high winds is definitely not recommended, as falling branches constitute a very real danger.

While in the area, do visit the Mathinna Falls Forest Reserve. The Griffin Camping area is nearby if you plan on staying.

Park fees DO NOT apply.

Leashed dogs are welcome. Firearms and bicycles are not permitted.

Facilities:
At the car park there are picnic tables, toilets, a picnic shelter, fireplaces and firewood.

Vehicle Access:
Take either the B43 from Fingal or C423 from Ringarooma. The Evercreech Forest Reserve is well signposted. Please note that the roads are unsealed.
