tasmania great walks

(53) friendly beaches

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesIn reality, the Friendly Beaches walking track in the Freycinet National Park is only a matter of a few metres long – however, the track connects to hours of great beach walking.

Going north, a dedicated group of beach walkers could travel to Cape Lodi and beyond to Bicheno. Walking south you could walk to Cape Tourville and on to Wineglass Bay, regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The Freycinet Peninsula and Cape Degerando are not beyond reach. All you require is time and a passion for walking amidst stunningly beautiful scenery.

The Friendly Beaches are rated as Level 2 walks, suitable for most levels of fitness. Obviously the length of the walk you decide to undertake is the deciding factor as to fitness and the ages of those in any walking party.

As with all outdoor pursuits in Tasmania, sun protection is highly recommended. The changeable weather means that walkers should dress for the weather of the day with an eye on the weather. Appropriate clothing to cater for a sudden change should be carried. The length of the walk you intend undertaking will also influence your choice of dress. Food and drink should be carried.

Park entry fees DO APPLY. Please note that the beach is not patrolled and swimming is not advisable.

No pets, firearms or bicycles are permitted in the park (including the beach).

Facilities:
There are bush toilets near the car park.

Vehicle Access:
From the Tasman Highway (A3) turn onto C302 and the turn-off to the Friendly Beaches.
