(48) goblin forest walk, blue tier

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesA short walk but one steeped in history. That sums up the Goblin Forest walk in just a few words. This short circuit (400m) is unusual in that it runs through an area of regenerated rain forest.

Formerly the site of extensive tin mining, nature has reclaimed the
ravaged land and created a new forest. The young trees are in stark contrast to the more mature ones in the older forests on Tasmania.

There are several combined walking and mountain bike tracks on the Blue Tier, but the Goblin Forest walk is by far the shortest and easiest at 20-minutes for the circuit, taken at a casual pace. Rated Level 1, it is suitable for people of all ages and is regarded as very wheelchair and stroller friendly. It is a perfect introductory bush walk for the whole family and is the perfect spot for a picnic.

Sun protection as always is recommended and clothing suitable for the day’s conditions. Having a jersey or jacket on hand is advisable.

Firearms are forbidden. Leashed dogs are welcome on the track, as are bicycles, however cyclists must stay on the formed surfaces.

Park fees DO NOT apply.

Facilities:
There are picnic and BBQ’ facilities, a shelter and toilets at the car park.

Vehicle Access:
Access is via Anchor Road off the Tasman Highway (A3) 20kms south of Weldborough. Drive towards Lottah and Poimena until you arrive at the car park. Driving from St Helena on the Lottah Road brings you to the start point.
