60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesThis exhilarating nature-based experience is located in the world-renowned Tahune Forest Reserve. As one of the most visited Tasmanian attractions, the AirWalk offers spectacular views of the state's famous Southern Forests as you walk 20 metres above the forest floor.

Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the trees and river as you journey through this stunning wet eucalypt forest. Extending an impressive 597m the AirWalk is a truly unique experience to be enjoyed in Tasmania. Some of the tree species visible include the tall eucalypts, celery top, King Billy pine, blackwood, sassafras, beech, myrtle, flowering leatherwood and the gigantic Huon pines which date back to over a thousand years.

The walk is approximately 1.6km’s return and walkers should allow 50-minutes return for this trip.

The walk is graded Level 1, which means that no walking/hiking experience is required. The AirWalk is just 620m in length and is a level structure with a steel walkway. Transport is provided to the start of the AirWalk for those with walking difficulties. Wheelchair users can travel in their own vehicle to the start of AirWalk entrance and wheelchairs can be safely pushed along the AirWalk. For those without walking difficulties, the AirWalk and access paths are a total distance of 1.6km and include 112 steps.

Walkers should ensure they have sturdy walking shoes or boots, sun hat, sun block, sunglasses and clothes to suit the weather. Take a picnic lunch to be enjoyed.

Because the site is beside the Huon River it is recommended that children should always be supervised.

Dogs are welcome in the reserve if kept on a leash, however the AirWalk is not suitable for dogs. No bicycles or firearms are prohibited.

Park entry fees DO NOT apply – however site admission fees DO apply.

Facilities:
Enjoy extensive picnic areas in bush surrounds with gas barbecues, plus shelters, toilets and the Huon Pine walking track. The Visitor Centre also has a licensed café. Camping and campervan areas are provided and the camping and picnic facilities are free of charge.

Vehicle Access:
Take the road A6 to Geeveston, then roads C632 and C631 to Tahune AirWalk, which is located 29km's from Geeveston.
