(44) meander falls

60 Great Short Walks Tasmania Australia - National Parks and World Heritage SitesThe Meander Falls walk is the perfect full-day stroll in beautiful highland bush country. Meander in fact could quite possibly be used to not only describe the falls, but also the leisurely pace you would set to full enjoy the walk away from the more heavily populated tracks.

Meander Falls is in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area below the Great Western Tiers. The walk is 5km (one way) and takes between 4.5 and 6hrs obviously depending on fitness levels, and the pace being set.

Because this is a highland wilderness area, the walk is graded at Level 3 and a reasonable level of fitness and some bush walking experience is recommended.

Walkers should ensure that they have sturdy footwear. In addition to your usual tramping clothing it is recommended that jeans and long cotton trousers are not worn. Thermal leggings or shorts, a warm hat or beanie, gloves, waterproof over-trousers and a good outer shell jacket should be taken along with food and drink. A map is essential.

No pets, firearms or bicycles are permitted.

Facilities:
There is a bush toilet and picnic shelter at the car park at the beginning of the walk.

Vehicle Access:
Drive from Deloraine on the C167 along Huntsman’s Road, which becomes Meander Falls Road and leads directly to the car park at the start of the track.
